Coming in February. A month focussed on social media.
A February theme at Floreo: how to curate your social media to make it work for you, not rob you of your self-esteem, time and sanity!
Hello everyone,
I listen to a lot of clients talking about social media and how it makes them feel so bad. And it can, there is no doubt about that at all. Social media can be detrimental to our self-esteem, be dangerous to our safety and the safety of our children. It can also rob us of hours and hours of our time, is highly addictive, stop us living our lives and the list goes on. All this is true.
For some people, the answer is to delete everything. But for many others this is just not an option. If you are the latter then this may be for you. I am not a great lover of social media myself, however, I have learned how to get enjoyment from it in a boundaried way. And I have helped many clients do the same thing.
So I thought it might be good to spend a month understanding why we get so hooked, looking at why our brains drive us to do this, the neuroscience of it, the biology of it (you could say our whole body is involved!) and how we can get unhooked to enable us to find our own way through the social media maze in a way that protects our self-esteem and mental health and allows us to live our lives.
There will be things to try out, challenges, short podcasts, articles and for journaling enthusiasts, some journaling ideas.
This idea came to me after an adolescent client who was totally addicted to TikTok (10+ hours a day), one day came to her session and said she had deleted TikTok because she wanted to make her own memories, not just look at other peoples and get back to school. Inspiration indeed.

This is just a heads up to what is coming. Let me know if there are any specific topics you would like to me to cover in February. I will open a chat for subscribers as a place to start putting ideas down on ‘paper’.
Looking forward to it.
With all warm wishes
Jane
