To post or not to post - what will you do this Halloween?
The 14 year old who gave up TikTok - a true story

I commented on a note the other day with
and relayed a story about one of my teenage clients.I was working with a 14 year old client a little while back. She was so addicted to TikTok. The addiction was very real and she did nothing much other than go to school (most days) and watch TikTok. This is a common problem across the age span as we all know, not just with TikTok.
I have noticed that younger generations have very few, if any, hobbies other than social media and trying to think up their next post. Many adults, for that matter, are thinking a lot about their next Instagram or TikTok or Facebook moment.
I am not very good at Instagram at the moment and am still deciding whether to get better. I have a pretty limited Instagram page and as its Halloween I noticed myself thinking about how I could fit in creating some amusing post for it. And then, I remembered my client.
She came in one day to see me for a session and said that she had deleted TikTok. I was like, whaaaat, reeeeeallly? Why (secretly delighted)? She had a simple answer. Her answer was that she wanted to start creating her own memories rather than watching other peoples. I was like wow. Her life then radically changed over just a few weeks. She started seeing friends, going out for walks, reading and took up a couple of hobbies, painting was one of them. She was so much better, her mental health improved so much, she only needed a further 4 sessions after that.
I am not anti-Halloween, but my decision today was not to find more time in my day to create some post that hardly anyone would see, let alone find helpful or remember.
Riley, instead, got a longer morning walk.
He is happy, I am happy.
How can you swap some of your social media time for something else that is more for you and your enjoyment and better mental health this Halloween or any day?
If you celebrate or don’t celebrate Halloween, I wish you all a wonderful day.
Warmest Wishes
Jane

This was wonderful to read this morning!
I am not good at social media because I do not enjoy it, but the pressures of being a self-employed small business owner makes Social Media marketing a very lucrative reality. If you want to bring in those clients (and it's all up to you, babe) then one of the best tools to use are the more popular Social Media platforms.
My Instagram isn't very good either. I, too, have gone between the desire to learn it better and do more with it, but the resistance in my body causes me to freeze up- even when I try to post more frequently for the sake of visibility. How will people know what I can do for them if they do not see me or know that my services are available to them?
Being told that it's ok not to want to do it-
That it can in fact even be healthy for the state of our psyche-
The reminder that living in the moment and slowing down is what's really important in life.
Well, for that I have to thank-you, Jane. I really needed that!
